Shinra's birthday

I may sound stupid for syaing this but: if Shinra's birthday was in October, and he's 17 years old as of year 196, would he be born in year 179 or 178? I don't know if being born in september-december in Japan means you're a year older than everyone else born in that year like it is in England.--GouenjiShuuya'123 (talk) 11:57, August 12, 2016 (UTC)

A publically editable timeline is going to potentially have a load of problems, but it could be that the problems don't become obvious immediately on the wiki. I'd recommend that this be a personal timeline. Main reason that Narutopedia doesn't have a public timeline is because everyone has different interpretations of events (not to mention that events are contradictory). --Sajuuk 16:42, August 12, 2016 (UTC)
I've locked the page so none of that happens~--GouenjiShuuya'123 (talk) 17:19, August 12, 2016 (UTC)
Good idea. I also put up the template notice so people are aware that they should use this talkpage to discuss additions or removals.
As for the original question you posed, I don't really know. Birthdays in anime/manga tend to be rather hard to determine most of the time. --Sajuuk 13:31, August 14, 2016 (UTC)

Ages

I notice Shinra's age being discussed, but there are issues with several other ages as well.

If Maki Oze was in the army in the year 193, as the timeline says; and she is 19, as her wiki page says; then she joined the army at 14 years old. That feels highly irregular, especially given how overprotective her father is.

Similarly, with Iris's date of birth being in year 180, and the start of the series (with Shinra joining the 8th) taking place in year 198, she should be 18, or 17 nearly 18, at the start of the series. However, she is listed as 16.

Additionally, Arthur being born in 179 and the series starting in 198 should make him 19, not 17.
